Houseplant Care in Winter
Spider Plants, Wandering Jew, Bolivian Jew, Orchid Cactus, Crown of Thorns, and any of the Cactus or Succulents family require minimal care over the Winter and reward you with color and their ability to freshen and clean the air.
We always have a fine supply of the above , and dozens more to brighten these drab Winter days. A few basic rules about houseplants during Winter: do not repot since plants are semi-dormant and little root growth occurs. Wait until Spring to repot, or do it early in the Fall. Cut water and fertilizers by 2/3, again because the plants are semi-dormant. Very little uptake by roots will occur in a semi-dormant plant, and the fertilizers can burn if not digested.
