Austin Garden Design Plan and Plant Service

A more economical option for a complete garden design. Download the forms from our website, bring them along with pictures of your area in progress, and make an appointment to speak in detail with one of our plant management specialists.

For a nominal fee, we will sit down with you and help you design your dream garden. In this cooperative design option, we help you determine which plants and soils will work best for you, and help you envision long-term results.

How it works...
Our program helps you plan and purchase for small landscape projects, (ie., front entry, patio landscape, utility shed screening). These projects are sketched by one of our professional designers and installed by you! The sketch is provided along with a complete list of needed materials. The service is extremely affordable, and you'll find that the money you save by purchasing the right plants in
the proper amounts more than covers the
$150+ design fee.

Sketch Appointment...
Make a sketch appointment by calling or coming in to the garden center. The appointments are scheduled for the beginning of the hour and last about 45 minutes.

Measuring Instruction...
The usefulness of the sketch is based on the accuracy of information you provide our designer. Taking accurate measurements can't be overstated. Begin at one side of the house recording the distance to the first window or door opening. Then, measure the opening and not the window glass or door itself. Continue on this fashion across the building and around the perimeter of the area until the entire project area is included.

Items to Include...
All utilities that are located within the project area: gas lines and meters, electric lines and meters, cable TV and telephone lines. All household mechanical features located in the project area; air conditioning units, downspouts, dryer vents and water faucets.

Site conditions include...
Make note of driveway and walk if they are in the project area. Locate all existing plants in the project area that are to stay. Note the direction that water drains and any slopes or terraces. Indicate which direction is north (very important) and any items on neighboring property that have impact on the project, like gences, walls, or large overhanging trees.

Current Photographs...
Bring current photos that show the project area. Assitional photos that show adjacent areas and one or two that show neighboring properties may be helpful too. Include photos of areas you may wish to screen.

Plant to include...
Take a walk around our garden center and make a list of the plants you would like our designer to consider for your project.
