Gift Ideas for Gardeners
#1- Tools.   A high quality tool that will last for many seasons is a great gift for the gardener and one they may not indulge themselves with.  My top recommendations are:
Felco Pruners- High quality construction and replaceable parts means that they can last for decades.  I still have my first pair I was given 20 years ago.  $60-$75
Fiskars All-Steel Shovels- These are the only shovel I have ever sold that has had zero returns.  They are virtually impossible to break.  Available as a pointed shovel, a sharpshooter, or a spading fork. $30-$50
Cobrahead Weeder-  The Cobrahead people are based here in Austin and they make a great little hand tool for weeding.  $23
#2- Books  While I now read most of my books electronically, I still want my gardening books to be a physical piece I can hold a flip through.  We have lots of titles, including some by local authors.
#3- Garden Art  In an attempt to “Keep Austin Weird”, we have a very eclectic offering of garden art here at TGO.  We try hard to buy American when we can and have found some pretty unique pieces.  A few of my favorite:
Gnome-Be-Gone metal art from Utah.  A slightly twisted line of pieces, many made from recycled items.
Shroomy’s Ceramic Mushrooms, Bird Houses, and such.  Very colorful accents for the garden or even a small pot.
A.S.Battle Graphite Writing Utensils-   I love these!  Solid pieces of graphite in cool shapes and you can actually write with them.
#4- Seeds  Seeds are a great, inexpensive gift for just about any gardener.  They are easily shipped or make a great stocking stuffer.  Try a Wildflower Blend for nearly any part of the country.  With over 25 varieties of plant seeds, something is bound to grow just about anywhere.
#5- Gift Card  Still not sure, TGO offers Gift Cards for the gardener so they can fill their needs.  Go to http://www.gonursery.com/pages/64-give-the-gift-of-gardening  to order one today!
